Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. ~Barack Obama
Hi Everyone,
Recently, we learned about how the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) has earmarked billions of dollars for health information technology. The ARRA is going to make a difference. For instance, it will make a difference in Colorado because there is a group of people committed to working together to make it count. On June 22, 2009, consider attending the Colorado Health Information Exchange (HIE) Planning Conference. It is described in detail in the following information that was forwarded to me:
A critical component of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) recently signed by President Obama is reforming healthcare through the systemic implementation of information technology. The passage of the ARRA has created a new sense of urgency around spurring the implementation of information technology throughout healthcare across the nation. Colorado’s efforts are no exception.
The Colorado Regional Health Information Organization (CORHIO) was recently designated by Governor Ritter as the state-level entity to receive these federal funds to improve care for all Coloradans (for more information visit the ARRA section of the CORHIO website). In particular, ARRA calls for an investment of $48.8 billion in gross federal outlays for health information technology. Given Colorado’s ongoing Health IT initiative, our state is well-positioned to make the most of this opportunity. As a result, the Governor’s Office of Information Technology, CSIA, CORHIO, the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing and the Governor’s Innovation Council have joined together to present the Colorado Health Information Exchange (HIE) Planning Conference.
This conference will be dedicated towards bringing public and private stakeholder groups together to collaborate on how to leverage the ARRA funding opportunities to further advance the HIE adoption across the State to improve healthcare quality and delivery to all Coloradans.
