================================

It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change-CHARLES DARWIN

I urge committees and task forces to learn all they can about present day telepractice. Then take a step further and learn about the people who cannot benefit from telepractice because of Code of Ethics, bylaws and other papers that ultimately serve to prevent services. I have met the children who are waiting. They are waiting on us to make decisions about what the wording of the rules mean and how many on-line visits we can do before we have to fly to see them again in person. Do you see that you are empowered to change the world for Daisy, a bright eyed child? Do you see that you are empowered to change the world for Mr. Reynolds, a relentless stroke survivor? Do you see you are empowered to open the door to enable SLPs to make full use of our capable hands, heads, and hearts to serve those who wait? Let's make this happen and let's do this well....but let's not wait a minute longer.
The Winds of Change....may you bring a spirit of learning, growing, and giving...giving a better tomorrow than there was yesterday.

The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew.
ABRAHAM LINCOLN
