TinyEYE: Speech Therapy Telepractice History

Speech Therapy Telepractice

Hi Everyone,

I was taking another look at some ASHA material on telepractice and came across some interesting history facts

Can you guess when the first attempt for speech therapy telepractice was?

1976!!

I thought it would have been the 90's or late 80's, but no, the first ever attempt at using telepractice as a means for service delivery took place in Birmingham, VA in 1976.

Why were they attempting it?

To better serve their rural communities! Talk about pioneers!

You can read more about it here.
